Turning Pages at Akagera Transit Lodge

Earlier today, the serene garden of Akagera Transit Lodge was transformed into a symposium of discovery, conversation, and reflection. Nestled near the entrance of Akagera National Park, the sojourning sanctuary for tourists en route to the home of the Big Five became something more: a space where stories breathed, memories resurfaced, and new connections were born. It was the 97th session of Turning Pages, an initiative that blends travel and storytelling.

This particular session was special. It featured a book titled The Akagera Expedition,  a product of an unforgettable tour across the park’s rolling savannahs, shimmering lakes, and tranquil campsites. What made today truly unique was the participation of Akagera Transit Lodge's staff members.

The host of today's session, along with Ikaze Rwanda Tours & Travel and Royal Balloon Rwanda, sponsored the tour that led to the creation of the book in question. To gather now, a couple of years later, within the very establishment that served as a launchpad for that adventure, gave the event a deep sense of poetic closure. The story had indeed come full circle.

As the group leafed through chapters and shared insights, the discussion naturally expanded beyond the book. The conversation drifted to the ripple effects of sustainable tourism in this corner of Rwanda.

Today wasn't just another book club session. It was a tribute to impactful partnerships and the magical fusion of exploration and literature.

In the end, the 97th Turning Pages session was more than a celebration of a book — it was a celebration of the destination, the people, and the purpose. Within the calming embrace of Akagera Transit Lodge, a story that began on safari found its echo in the laughter, reflections, and shared vision of those gathered. It served as a powerful reminder that when travel, storytelling, and community intersect, they leave behind more than memories. They plant seeds for enduring impact.
