The last time I updated this section, I was in the middle of a five-hour walk across the vibrant city of Kigali. After covering approximately 20 kilometers, I find myself spending the night at the newly refurbished Riverside Motel, nestled on the bank of Nyabugogo River.

Today's walk through the city offered me the chance to observe and absorb more than I ever could behind the wheel. Walking places you directly in the element, where the world slows down, and your surroundings come alive. While walking, the blur of buildings, streets, and people viewed from a windshield transforms into a vivid tapestry of life.

Beyond the bustling Nyabugogo Junction, I walked alongside Nyabugogo River, sandwiched between Mount Jali and Mount Kanyinya. One step after another, I burned calories amid soothing music from choirs of birds.

This feels like the beginning of another unforgettable walking tour. Three years ago, I embarked on a similar adventure, starting with a hike from the headquarters of Gakenke District to the summit of Mount Kabuye, where I camped overnight. The next day, I trekked to Lake Ruhondo and camped on Peace Haven Island. Two days later, I tied my laces once more and tackled the Rubavu - Cyimbiri stretch of the Congo Nile Trail.

This time, my journey may lead me to Lake Burera or downtown Musanze.  Perhaps I’ll even make it to the northern shores of Lake Kivu. The ultimate destination depends on how my body responds to the demands of these long treks.

What excites me most are the countryside trails awaiting exploration. Tomorrow’s path winds alongside the majestic Nyabarongo River, offering scenic views and a tranquil atmosphere. At some point, I’ll likely transition to the highway and, if all goes as planned, spend the second night at Rusiga Highland Resort. Each step brings new discoveries, and the promise of untold beauty keeps me moving forward.
