The Giraffe Center is located in the affluent Karen neighborhood. It is the creation of the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW), a Kenyan non-profit organization. The main purpose of the establishment is to educate Kenyan schoolchildren on their country's wildlife and environment. In addition, the center gives local and international visitors an opportunity to come into close contact with the world's tallest creature, the elegant giraffe.
As the visit winds down, you find yourself lingering, not quite ready to leave. There’s a quiet joy in having connected—however briefly—with such majestic creatures.
